Popup Permitting
A food pop-up vendor is a business that enters into an agreement with a food-pop up host (a restaurant, brewery, distillery, winery, or bar) to use the host's kitchen and facilities to prepare and sell its own menu, often on a recurring schedule.
FPAC’s Business Development Working Group raised concern over permitting fees with New Orleans City Council and together in November 2022, the New Orleans City Council, with input from FPAC, introduced new pop-up permitting processes and costs. This process began streamlining the process for pop-up food businesses to be able to operate legally, keeping dollars in the community.
There is a need for continued updating on policies that no longer reflect the current foodscape. We continue to work with the city to ensure equitable permitting processes for food businesses.
