A Greener NOLA Quality of Life Committee Hearing

A Greener NOLA campaign has had some swift developments recently! Councilmember Lesli Harris of District B has brought forward Resolution R-23-244 championing local food and growers. This resolution is #18 on the consent agenda for the New Orleans City Council meeting scheduled for Thursday June 8, 2023.

Next step: final approval of our resolution at the June 8 City Council meeting! We would love to see folks attend in person, but understand that is challenging for many folks. If you can't make it in person, please submit a public comment here in support of resolution R-23-244, item #18 on the consent agenda, by this Thursday, the 8th, at 9am.

Public Comment guidance: We encourage folks to let council know what their connection to urban agriculture is (e.g. a farmer, gardener, local food eater, nonprofit advocate, etc.), what it is about urban agriculture that they care about (e.g. environmental/climate benefits, social connection and community, beautiful spaces in our city, etc.), and lastly- be sure to tell council that you want them to pass the resolution (R-23-244; item #18 on the consent agenda) and support the development of our local food system!!! If you need help or more ideas, email Devin (devin@sproutnola.org) for some guidance!
